A Ban on Letting Fees

Posted: 11th January 2018 Categories: Legal

On 1st November 2017 the Government announced a draft bill to ban letting fees for tenants.

The proposed new laws will mean tenants can only be asked to pay their rent and an up-front deposit.

A clearer, fairer system is welcome although many believe the impact of these bans will increase rents.

It has now been revealed that the ban will not become law until at least Spring 2019.

Unlike other agents the only cost Mint Homes charge to tenants is £90 (inc VAT) for the referencing fee. We also only take the money from them when we are happy that they will pass, based on the information they have supplied. We DO NOT charge tenants for anything else.
